Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Announces 2020 Schedule

BOWMANVILLE, ON (December 5, 2019) - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), today announced their major-event racing schedule for the 2020 season.

• May 15 to 17 - Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest

• June 19 to 21 - VARAC Vintage Racing Festival

• July 2 to 5 - Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix

• August 14 to 16 - Superbike Doubleheader presented by BMW Motorrad

• September 4 to 6* - Chevrolet Silverado 250 (*New Date – Labour Day Weekend)

“We’re excited to release next year’s racing schedule,” said Myles Brandt, President and General Manager of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. “CTMP is committed to an exciting fan experience and each year brings new challenges and opportunities. We feel like our major events get better and better every season, and we’re looking forward to another successful one in 2020.”

As per tradition, the season will once again kick-off with the Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest on the May long-weekend, featuring the door-to-door racing of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. The SRO Motorsports Group known formerly as World Challenge, return for their only Canadian stop with both GT3 and GT4 racing classes in Sprint race formats. The season also gets underway for popular homegrown series like Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama as well as Nissan Micra Cup and Canadian Touring Car Championship.

The VARAC Vintage Racing Festival will take place on Father’s Day Weekend. This weekend features beautiful vintage cars restored to their former glory on the legendary Grand Prix Circuit, nearly unchanged since its founding in 1961. A recent addition to this weekend is the Field of Dreams car show, with classic and rare machines lining the CTMP infield. This weekend hosts a field of VARAC/CASC historic cars as well as Toyo Tires F1600 competition

The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) comes north of the border for the annual Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix featuring some of the world’s fastest cars and drivers. An international lineup of machines, teams, and pilots make this weekend a truly global event.

The WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will return with DPi, GTLM, and GTD classes. Saturday’s feature will again be the Michelin Pilot Challenge for the CTMP 120, featuring GT4 and TCR spec racers in a 2-hour into-the-dusk battle on the storied road course. The IMSA Prototype Challenge featuring LMP3 spec machines rounds out this exciting, must-see weekend.

The season finale for the MOPAR Canadian Superbike Championship rides into CTMP for the Superbike Doubleheader presented by BMW Motorrad. With national championships on the line, this weekend truly produces some of the closest and most exciting racing on the calendar. This weekend also features motorcycle test-rides by multiple manufacturers throughout the weekend including BMW.

Returning to the Labour Day Weekend date, the Chevrolet Silverado 250 roars into CTMP with a Playoff Race for the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. This race has become one of the most anticipated events on the North American NASCAR calendar. Tensions are high, competition is fierce, and last lap drama is bound to create a thrilling finish. Also featured on this weekend is the NASCAR Pinty’s Series with a 200 km event Sunday morning.
